Asylum Law
Our practitioners are experienced asylum advisers and we provide advice on a private client basis to asylum seekers in the South West.
An asylum seeker is a person who claims that, if they return to their home country, they will be subject to persecution on account of one of the following: their political opinions and/ or activities, membership of a social group, religion, nationality, or ethnicity / race.
If you or a family member are considering claiming asylum in the UK, or have claimed asylum and do not have a legal representative we strongly advise you to seek advice and representation as soon as possible. Delaying claiming asylum could have serious consequences upon your credibility, that is, whether or not your account is accepted by the Home Office.
We can offer you legal advice and assistance throughout your claim including as follows:
• How and where to claim asylum
• The procedure from start to finish
• Acting for you in your claim- the preparation of statements and
evidence
• Acting for you in an appeal- if the Home Office refuse your claim
• An assessment of merit- what are your chances of success?
Asylum law is complex and of course a claim for international protection will be stressful and possibly upsetting for the applicant. We will strive to provide legal assistance whilst understanding your emotional needs. We can also refer you to local refugee support groups who can assist with practical matters such as housing and financial assistance.
